Comparison of Informatics Methods, Pc Science, and Data Systems.
For those of you who are interested in continuing your undergraduate research with majors related to computers, of course you are familiar with the names of departments such as Informatics Methods, Computer Science, Informatics Systems or other uniform majors that pursue the same subject, namely computers.
However, the three research programs have comparisons that in fact not everyone knows or understand, before making a serious mistake by choosing the wrong major, it would be better if you find out what kind of computer major suits your interests and talents.
Interpretation of Informatics Methods, Pc Science, and Information Systems.
Informatics Method is a field of science that is concerned with computer technology including mathematical analysis of development, testing, evaluation of software (applications), operating systems, and computer work.
The informatics method is synonymous with learning programming languages and applying them by creating desktop, website, mobile applications, etc. Informatics method students want to pursue functions and instruction structures in programming languages and methodologies in making applications.
When viewed from the subject side, informatics methods focus on programming, computer network technology, and software development. If earlier you were students of a Vocational High School (SMK) majoring in Software Engineering (RPL) the subject you studied would not be much different when you went to college.
Pc science is a field of science that is concerned with algorithms and programming to develop an application or software system. com, PC Science and Informatics are the same department, only the names are different.
The Computer Science Department is still relatively new, so that in some universities the Computer Science Study Program is still under other faculties, such as Computer Science which is located at the base of the MIPA (Mathematics and Natural Sciences) faculty, while Informatics is located at the Faculty of Methods.
Data Systems is a field of science that mixes computer science with business management. Reported from campus. quipper. com, in the Data Systems major, you will learn about identifying industry needs and business processes based on data owned by the industry and sourced from information, then designing a system that fits industry needs.
When viewed from a subject point of view, the Data Systems Department focuses more on data management, therefore programming skills are not of added value in this department because you will be required to have good information managerial skills, study, and analysis.
Comparison of Informatics Methods, Pc Science, and Information Systems
The Informatics Methods Department is more inclined towards implementation or practice than theory, because Informatics Methods stands under the Faculty of Methods so that the process of designing, developing, and testing software is the main focus of the Informatics Methods department.
Therefore, in the Informatics Methods major, when writing a thesis, students are required to build an application, but that does not mean that the theory of PC science is not discussed, it's just that the description is not discussed as deeply as the Computer Science major.
The Pc Science Department is more inclined towards PC Science, reviews such as programming algorithms, the concept of an application, network theory, computation theory, etc. will be subject topics that you will often encounter later.
There is not much difference between Pc Science and Informatics Engineering majors, simply put, if you prefer practice over theory then the Informatics Engineering option will be perfect for you, if you prefer Pc Science theory it will be more suitable.
The Data Systems major is very different from the previous 2 majors because this major mixes concept with business and management, the purpose of this major is to be a bridge between business needs and the suitability of technology or applications to be used.
This certainly requires good planning in view of business needs with existing technology, for example there are industries that need office applications and are confused about choosing the right application to be applied to business processes, you as data systems students will consider and design the application needs based on business scale, etc.
The many branches of knowledge about PCs make PC majors of many types, as described above the 2 majors with the same characteristics differ only in the name.
Be wise in choosing your college major, because the major will determine how your career will be in the future.
